How To Become Younger

By September 24, 2005

Follow me on:

The spa lifestyle is all about health and wellness -- not just lying on a table getting a massage. ( It's called "Living Younger Longer" by the people at Canyon Ranch. ) An important part of that is knowing your biological age (how old your body actually is in terms of its functioning) versus your chronological age (how old the calendar says you are). You can be a 48-year-old with the body of a 42-year-old....or 48-year-old with the body of a 60-year-old. I know which I'd rather be. To find out your biological age -- and how to lower it -- go to the Polar BodyAge™ quiz. . You'll find an online fitness assessment designed to determine your body's age based on a variety of factors - fitness, lifestyle, nutrition and family history.

You do have to do a little work. The tests required for determining your BodyAge score include:

Cardiovascular: One-mile walk

Body Composition: Waist to hip ratio

Flexibility: Sit & Reach

Strength: Push-Up

Nutrition: Health Risk Assessment

Stress: Health Risk Assessment

You should have the following items available during the test:

Measuring tape

Yard stick

Stop watch

Polar heart rate monitor (optional)

The assessment will require you to do some walking, push-ups and stretching, so print out the instructions on the site and review the different elements of the tests. You can do these tests at your convienence and write down your results on the instruction pages. Then return to the website and enter your results to find out your body's true age -- and how to lower it.
