Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Changes Name
Wednesday July 2, 2008
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the strikingly pink 649-room luxury resort in Phoenix, Arizona, known for its Willow Stream Spa, has a new name. It's dropped the regal "Princess" title in favor of the more pedestrian Fairmont Scottsdale. However, the resort is much improved, with a recent $20 million makeover that includes 69 new Fairmont Gold guestrooms and lounge that form a "hotel within a hotel," as well as a 3,700-square-foot, two-story super suite, and a new restaurant and lounge. Now it's time to turn their attention to the spa. The last time I was there I loved the roof-top pool with fabulous mountain views, but was underwhelmed by the warm waterfall pools meant to evoke the Havasupai Falls at the Grand Canyon -- as if anything could. And they need to attend to the basics. The locker room doors were grubby (no excuse for that!) and my esthetician was super-pushy.
