I love destination spas for their top-notch exercise classes and inspiring lectures. And I love big resort spas for their beauty and splendor. But the very best treatments often come from small day spas where the owners are also the therapists. They care! And they have control! For instance, I was wowed by Flic Spa in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where Oliver Dimaya and Lerrick Santos have created a two-hour Royal Pacific Raindance Therapy ($260) that true spa junkies should check out.
They literally pour big BUCKETS of warm water over you during the Vichy shower -- something I've never experienced before and don't expect to anywhere else. That's because you couldn't ask an employee to do something like that -- it's too hard! But it felt fabulous. And if you are really looking for a different spa experience -- go!

That bucket action sounds intriguing. I’d love to try that out myself. Thanks for the heads up.
Anitra – I agree with your comments about the best day spas being all about the treatments. What a unique twist on a Vichy Shower!
I wanted to know if you could comment on being an esthetician as a career, and where to start. I am wanting to go into this career and it would be a totally different career for me. I would like some information on what starting salaries are. Thanks.
I went to Flic for the first time yesterday and after having a swedish massage I left floating on air, this was the best massage I have ever gotten. Loved the peacefull feeling I felt as soon as I walked in and the attention to small details that meant a lot. I am so happy I found Flic, finally a place that I can go to often instead of jumping from spa to spa trying to find the right fit. I highly recommend it.
