What Is Rollerssage?

Rollerssage is a truly different spa treatment that combines the best of hot stone massage and Swedish massage.

I like Rollerssage because you get the benefit of heated stones without losing the contact with the therapist's hands, with some crystal healing in the bargain.  I've had a few too many hot stone massages where I missed the human touch, and got overheated from big stones.

You can only get Rollerssage at about 25 Westin Heavenly Spas around the world, including The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, where it was developed by massage therapist Matt. Murdock.  Rollersage uses heated, perfectly round semi-precious stones that fit into a patented massage tool that allows the heated stones to roll smoothly over your body.

I had a Rollersage from the inventor himself and it was an amazing experience. I started by choosing one or two of four stones that I wanted the therapist to work with. He explained that each type of stone has properties: hematite is good for grounding and circulation; tiger eye for optimism and insight.  Rose quartz is the "love stone" that resolves hurt and anger.  Sodalite is when you need truthfulness, and it supports your digestive system.

You choose the stones based on the areas where you think you could use some support. And I chose hematite and tiger eye. The polished stones have a smooth feeling that is different from the basalt stones. There's less heaviness and drag on the skin. It's more like a flash of heat while you're also feeling the therapist's hands. Great stuff!

Sometimes Matt actually held small egg-shaped crystal stones in his hands while he worked on places that needed deeper work, like my shoulders. Ultimately, it was a deeply relaxing treatment that also had tremendous therapeutic benefit. I don't know if other therapists match up to the Rollerssage master. But I would definitely try it at a Westin Heavenly Spa and recommend you do too.

I have been doing massage with stones for several years… never try to do it with the kinkd of stones you mentioned at the article… I found out that my clients enjoyed much more the experiencing (hot stones) using it as a tool to massage the areas, then just leaving them at certain areas of the body…
