The Ritz-Carlton Spa,
Naples The Ritz-Carton, Naples opened their 51,000+ square foot tri-level spa in April, 2001 after three and a half years in the making. The facility was designed with natural materials and attention to lighting, color, and water to create drama and a peaceful mood. The interior of the spa has interesting design elements such an Italian mosaic floor in the entry, a 360 degree Italian landscape mural pained in the circular opening above the stairway, a fountain at the base of the stairs. The spa has been designed so that the fitness area (Pilates studio, private exercise studio, aerobics studio, cardio and weight room) is on the ground level easily accessible to the separate, junior Olympic-size, adult-only lap pool. Quiet spa activities and treatment rooms are found on the upper levels. There are 33 treatment rooms, 2 suites, 3 couples rooms, and 5 skin care rooms. Each treatment room has individual climate control and a CD player with 250 selections available. Co-ed space in third floor lounge and terrace was provided for couples to enjoy their spa time together. The terrace provides lounge chairs for two. A Hungarian mineral soaking pool on the terrace will eventually be used for Watsu treatments. Light meals are offered at both the Poolside Cafe and =H20+ Spa Cafe. =H20+ Spa Cafe on the top floor of the spa offers a juice bar with a variety of freshly squeezed juices such as the House Blend Carrot/Orange, specialty teas, muffins (some fat-free), fruit yogurt, and lunches (11am - 6pm) such as Grains of the World "Explored" (Aramanth and Hearts of Palm with Lemon Olive Oil, Tabbouleh with House Greens and wild Mushrooms, Arugula, Black Beans, Smoked Tomatoes, Goat Cheese and Cilantro, and Hummus with Olives). You can add bee pollen, vitamins, ginko biloba, ginseng root, lecithin, soy milk, or wheat germ to Fruit Smoothies. Beware! The "spa choices" also offer Key Lime Tart, Coconut Macaroon, Carrot Cake with Mascapone, Macadamia Nut Brownies among other delicious-but-not-so-healthy desserts. In addition to the many treatments available, the spa also offers wellness evaluations by a master spa therapist certified by the American Spa Therapy Education & Certification Council (ASTECC) who will design a treatment program for you based on an analysis of your individual constitution and can include stress management, weight loss, beauty and rejuvenation, and athletics. I did the water circuit - whirlpool, cold plunge, sauna, cold plunge, and steam, cold plunge. Afterwards, I enjoyed lounging around the spa. Fruit and ice water infused with orange slices were plentiful. My therapist, Michelle, found me in the lounge and escorted me to the Hydrotherapy Room of one of the spa suites to have a Hydrotherapy Massage. The Hydrotone tub was whirring away. The water was scented with Jurlique's Pampering Blend of essential oils (geranium, lavender, rosewood, vetiver, and palma rosa). While I stretched out in the tub, Michelle used a jet of water from a hose attached to the tub to massage me. Quite nice!
