The Spa At Doral Forrestal The Doral Forrestal in Princeton, New Jersey is a conference center and hotel designed in the Arts and Crafts style. It's secluded location on a 25 wooded-acre campus also makes it ideal for a quiet getaway. According to Senior Sales Manager, Barbara Breen, the 15,000-square-foot Spa at Doral Forrestal was recently added to encourage conference attendees to extend their stays. It was a pleasant surprise when the local population discovered it. Spa Director, Colleen Stiers, reports that approximately 70% of their clients are from the area. I had heard about The Spa at Doral Forrestal from the owners of a number of other spas in New Jersey. They viewed it as a model to emulate. I was, therefore, excited to get a chance to visit the spa in person. My first treatment was a Sea Salt Glow. My therapist, Kerri, explained that this type of exfoliation is particularly nice for dry skin in Winter. She gently scrubbed the sea salt on my skin then rinsed it off under the Vichy shower while I remained on the table. When I was on my back, she put a towel scented with almond oil, orange, and lavender across my eyes to keep the spray out. This was followed by a moisturizer. My skin felt soft and moist when it was done. My second treatment was a facial. I asked the aesthetician, Aurora, about various facials and told her how confusing it was with so many choices. It is difficult to know which to choose. She recommended sticking with a classic or European facial. After examining your skin, the aesthetician can recommend other treatments that might be beneficial. We followed Aurora's advice and I got a Classic Facial which included cleansing, a moisturizing mask with essential oils (lavender and citrus), and a relaxing face, neck, and shoulders massage while the mask was setting up. Just what I needed! The Spa at Doral Forrestal is located on the lower level of the hotel - a quick right turn at the bottom of the wide staircase leading from lobby. It has all of the features you would expect in a larger spa. Robes and slippers are provided. The locker rooms have steam, sauna, showers, vanity with toiletries, and a lounge (on the small side, however, and with not particularly comfortable chairs). There are bright manicure and pedicure areas, cozy treatment rooms, rooms for yoga and meditation classes, a cardiovascular and strength training facility; and a lovely atrium area containing a lap pool and whirlpool. The use of entire spa facility is free to anyone receiving a spa service. Guests not receiving a spa service can pay a daily spa admission fee of $25 for the use of locker, robe, slippers, sauna, steam room, indoor pool, whirlpool, fitness center and a complete line of locker room amenities. Spa cuisine is offered at the adjoining Gratella where a number of tables have been screened off from the rest of the restaurant for the spa's use. Spa guests can enter from the atrium wearing robes and slippers and be assured of privacy. The Spa is open daily. Reservations are available from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
