JORDAN'S OPENS AT THE CLAREMONT RESORT & SPA

OAKLAND, CALIF. (APRIL 1997) -- Jordan's at The Claremont opened this month with a new menu, decor and ambiance. Formerly the Pavilion, The Claremont Resort and Spa's AAA Four Diamond dining room, the 120-seat restaurant closed on January 15 for a $500,000 renovation. Jordan's still has unsurpassed San Francisco Bay views, but will feature a fresh menu and new tables, chairs, linens, china, silver, crystal, and more.

Hans Wiegand, executive chef at The Claremont, gave his creative flair to Jordan's menu with his California fare which features hints of the Pacific Rim with ingredients such as Japanese seaweed, wasabi and ginger. For people who prefer lighter meals, Chef Wiegand incorporated Lifestyle Cuisine into his menu. Indicated on the menus by the Eastern symbol of balance, yin yang, Lifestyle Cuisine is prepared using lighter culinary techniques without sacrificing The Claremont's dedication to culinary perfection.

Chef Wiegand received his training through Germany's Hotel Schloss Saalek Apprenticeship Program, and has served as executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston, the Pan Pacific Hotel in San Francisco, the Westin Galleria Hotel in Dallas and the Rhodes Restaurant in Toronto

"We're excited about the pairing of Jordan's and Chef Wiegand," said Todd Roesler, food and beverage director at The Claremont Resort. "With Jordan's charm and Chef Wiegand's sophisticated cuisine, diners will have a new favorite dining spot."

Jordan's renovation accentuates the room's traditional attributes including the vaulted ceiling and San Francisco Bay views spanning from the Bay Bridge to Mann County. The room's inviting decor features a blend of mauve and yellow hues. Large tables and chairs allow guests to relax and enjoy their dining experience.

The 120-seat room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10 a.m.; lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday Brunch will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jordan's will also feature live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a~m.
