| 10 Steps to a Successful Spa Launch - Step 5: Develop an Operations Manual | |
|
This is the
indispensable road map for the new spa staff. While the spa space is being designed, you
need to think through operations details that impact a spa's final design. For instance,
with each spa guest using an average of 10 pounds of laundry during their visit, you can
see the importance of thinking through the distribution and utilization of laundry. The
design of the facility will also dictate the staffing needs. A detailed operations manual
covering everything from guest registration to staff laundry procedures should be written
during the completion of the spas design.
To ensure
that employees are brought up to speed on your spas operations quickly and
efficiently, youll also want to prepare a treatment
manual describing procedures and protocols for the spa's specific menu of services.
This will ensure that your services and treatments are consistently delivered and help
maintain a high staff retention rate. Included in the treatment manual should be:
- all of your services and treatments,
- step-by-step instructions on how to
deliver them,
- any contra-indications for
providi
- cost and duration of treatments,
- products to be used and in what
quantity,
- what retail products will support this
service for your guest home care program, and
- most importantly, explanations of the
particular treatments history and how it benefits the guest.
