SONNENALP ANNOUNCES ITS "SUMMER CAMP" ADVENTURES PROGRAMS Offering All-Inclusive Activity Packages for Adults & Kids
VAIL, Colo. -- As Vail's premier, full-service resort property, the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail has gone the extra mile" by designing and now offering two unique "summer camp" adventure programs and packages for adults and kids: Sonnenalp Alpine Summer Adventure and KidVentures.
Catering to children 5-14 years of age as well as adults and older family members, the Sonnenalp's "summer camp" offers a variety of recreation options, ranging from guided tours and golf programs to fly fishing, raft trips and spa services. Sample program and package options include:
Alpine Summer Adventure Packages
Available from June 11 through Oct. 4, 1 998, prices for a
three~night Alpine Summer Adventure Package range from $426 to
$951 per person (depending upon type of accommodation) and
include:
three nights' lodging;
daily breakfasts;
airport transfers;
daily adventure coupons that can be used for a round of
golf, selected spa treatments, dinner with bottle of house wine
in any Sonnenalp Restaurant (including gratuity and tax), tennis,
river rafting, horseback riding, any Sonnenalp Activity Tour,
round-trip airport transfers, Black Mountain Ranch Adventure,
Jeep trip, and/or fly fishing for adults and children over 14
years of age or KidVentures activities for children ages 5-14
(one coupon is good for up to two children).
Children 12 and under stay free in their parents' room. Prices
are based on double occupancy in a hotel room or one-bedroom
suite. Individual packages for one or more nights, two-bedroom
suites as well as custom tours are also available.
KidVentures Program
Designed for kids who love adventure, this day and/or week-long
series of exercise and outdoor excursions begins and ends in the
Sonnenalp's Bavaria Haus lobby in the heart of Vail Village.
Headed by an experienced and enthusiastic staff of professionals,
parents can be assured their kid(s) will be properly supervised
and challenged, returning with exciting stories of their
experiences.
Open to tile general public, hotel guests and
Sonnenalp Golf Club members, the KidVentures program costs $45
per child per day ($20 for each additional child). The program
runs from June 5 through Sept. 1 3 1 998 and includes daily
supervision, guides, shuffle, lunch, professional instruction and
equipment. For overnight guests, KidVentures can be included as
one of the Sonnenalp's Alpine Summer Adventure Packages or
individual participants can register on a program-only basis.
Highlighted below are the KidVentures activity packages offered
each week:
Monday - Gold Diggers & Train Riders
(ages 5 and older) - Adventure underground to the phoenix mine in
Idaho Springs where hard rock miners still hope to strike it
rich, have lunch and then venture to Georgetown where you'll
climb aboard one of the country's oldest steam locomotives for a
train ride through spectacular Colorado scenery.
Tuesday - Raftriders (ages 5 and older) -
Participants can expect a gentle rafting trip on the Upper
Colorado River, lunch at an old miner's camp, a tour of historic
cabins and a light snack.
Wednesday - Slip 'N' Sliders Then The Miners
(ages 7 and older) - Journey to Breckenridge where you'll slip
and slide on the alpine slide and then venture underground to
explore the world of the gold miner.
Thursday - Jolly Ranchers (ages 5 and
older) - Experience a petting zoo, arts and crafts, face
painting, pony rides, ball games, fishing and hiking at the Black
Mountain Ranch.
Friday - Canyon Bikers (ages 7 and older)
- Join in a gentle 1 '/2 hour bike ride through breathtaking
Glenwood Canyon plus games and lunch in Two Rivers Park.
Saturday - Slip 'N' Sliders Then The Miners (ages
7 and older) - Same as Wednesday (due to popularity).
Sunday - Day of Rest - No KidVentures
program.
To ensure children and adults are adequately prepared for outdoor activities, it is recommended all guests bring warm clothes (for layering), sunglasses, a hat or cap and sturdy shoes (for hikes).
