Summer is the busy season in northern California's wine country but that isn't stopping Calistoga's most popular resort spa from offering its first ever mid-week summer spa package now through September 3.
The "Summer Better Than Others" package at Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs includes overnight accommodations, and your choice of either "The Works" - mud bath with facial mask, aromatic mineral whirlpool bath, steam room, blanket wrap and half hour massage (2 hours) OR a Dr. Wilkinson's facial (1 1/2 hours) OR a Salon Sampler - mini facial, 1/2 hour body massage and Cerafango Treatment for hands or feet (1 1/2 hours) - all for $269 ($134.50 per person)! The discounted spa package is good Sunday through Thursday, subject to availability.
Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs is one of the original Calistoga hot springs where visitors from around the world have come since 1952 to get therapeutic mud baths and relax by soaking in the natural hot mineral waters. As a young chiropractor, Dr. Wilkinson was a pioneer of sorts, using "alternative" treatments with his patients long before they were widely regarded modes of therapy. At 83 the "doc" as he is affectionately known, still greets guests and takes mud baths at the family run spa he founded.
