Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda to Al Capone and baseball great Lou Gehrig, they came to bask in the warm Florida sun. Surrounded by all the grand trappings, guests enjoyed a charmed respite from the tumultuous world in which they lived, sipping champagne on the roof gardens, dining amid white gloved waters, and dancing the night away to the music of the hotel's resident orchestra.
