The Dolphin ExperienceTM

The Dolphin ExperienceTM is one of the leaders in marine mammal interaction, education, and conservation. It offers a number of programs: 1) The Close Encounter Program is a two-hour interaction program where you meet some of the pod of 16 Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and have the opportunity to stand in waist deep water and touch them under the guidance of the animal care staff; 2) The Swim with the Dolphins Program allows you to swim and interact with the dolphins in Sanctuary Bay under the guidance of the animal care staff; 3) The Assistant Trainer Program is an all day program where you work with the trainers and swim with the animals; 4) The Dolphin Dive Program takes the dolphins about a mile off shore in 40-50 ft of water where they can interact with you if you are a certified scuba diver. Senses Spa's Sense of Wisdom - The Dolphin Journey program  educates and guides you through an intimate personal journey with these fascinating creatures. A native Bahamian guide facilitates the journey through instruction and companionship.  The program includes videos, books, journal keeping, group discussion sessions, dolphin encounters and a dolphin swim, morning yoga classes, and a choice of three spa treatments from the Senses Spa menu.

Dolphins accompany the boat from Port Lucaya to The Dolphin ExperienceTM

It's located in a 9 1/2 acre lagoon called Sanctuary Bay on the South shore of Grand Bahama Island.

As part of the two hour Close Encounter Program, we got to know 31-year old Scarab, his 18 year-old mate, Lucaya, and their one-year-old, Exuma. Here Scarab and Lucaya wave at us.

They also "spoke" to and splashed us.

Exuma has a turn, too.
