Willie Broadleaf's Global Decor
Jonkonoo (aka Junkanoo and John Canoe) band at China Grill Patio. Jonkonoo,
with its roots in the slave traditions of the 1600's, is celebrated during
the Christmas season with official parades on Boxing Day and New Year's
Day. Jonkonoo dancers are accompanied by goombay drums (goatskin stretched
over a wooden frame and heated to obtain maximum sound), whistles,
cowbells, conch shells, bugles, and horns.
