New Age Health Spa Philosophy of Weight Loss

Generally, people are heavier than their ideal weight because 1. They eat too much food and/or  2. They eat a relatively poor selection of foods.  To most adults in the Western world this makes sense.  It is, after all, a relatively simple concept.  Nevertheless, for most of us, the implementation of different eating habits is more easily said than done.

Technically, almost everyone that would like to or actually should lose weight would do so if they adhered to the follow instructions:

  • Eat less and
  • Don’t eat any junk food.

Since this simple scientific reality doesn’t seem to be taking our ever-fatter nation in the right direction, we at New Age are taking a different tact.  What is at the root of eating more than your body needs?  What is the basis of feeling unable to do what you believe is best for you?

Combining our spiritual ideologies with modern science, we focus on the idea of mindfulness and eating awareness.  Meditation is simply living with awareness of the moment.  In bringing awareness to eating we see more clearly our motivations (eg. taste as opposed to hunger,) and our true needs.  We realize why we eat what we eat at the times we eat it.  The dietary changes are sometimes immediate but usually our patterns shift over time with constant awareness.

In terms of long term healthful changes, new dietary patterns as well as personal growth on every level, meditation on life, the process of constantly living in the present moment, paying attention to what you are doing, thinking, feeling is the path.  For example, with increased bodily awareness you are much less likely to eat foods, in quantities that are impairing to your health. You are also far more likely to have a heightened enjoyment of your food.

Learning, practicing and accepting the process of growing awareness is simply the long term way to weight loss through evolvement.
