Staff Compensation

There are many ways in which to compensate your staff. Ultimately it will depend on what your competition is doing as well as how this fits in with your financial projections. It is important to become aware of the different variables and ways in which staff can be compensated.  Listed below are a few examples to familiarize you with your options.

  • Aestheticians:  Hourly rate ($10 - $12), and a percentage of each service provided (20% - 30%), and commission on retail sold (10% - 25%).

  • Massage therapist: Hourly rate ($10 - $12), percentage of each service provided (20% - 30 %), commission on retail sold (10% - 25%).

  OR

  • Massage therapist:  Percentage of treatments provided (30% - 40%), percentage on retail sold (10% - 25%).

  • Front desk staff: Hourly rate ($8 - $12)

Once you have identified how you will compensate your staff, the next step will be to determine how you will set up your pay scale according to experience and longevity with the company. For example: you may set up a grid for qualifications and experience to help you determine where each person will enter into the pay scale as well as a guide to determine when a pay raise is appropriate. This will serve as a guide as well as an incentive for your staff to learn new treatments and stay with the company.

Spa Director Compensation

The actual salary for Spa Directors will be reflected by the responsibility, organizational structure, experience, financial responsibility and type of spa. On an average Virtual Spa is seeing the following ranges for Spa Director compensation.
