Canyon Resort:
BALANCE
IS
KEY TO
WELLNESS
By Beth Stern, Spa & Tennis Center director
Guests Visiting the Spa & Tennis Center at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort are in for a treat. They can enjoy the luxuries of a complete resort spa experience and tailor a range of services to meet their needs.

The 7,OO0-square-foot facility opened in 1997 as part of a $2.8 million redesign of the resort's existing workout area, which was about half the size. The all-out expansion ensured the best equipment, facilities and services are provided in an ideal setting.
The renovated Spa & Tennis Center at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort features:
Eight sound-proof treatment rooms, including four dry massage rooms, two wet treatment rooms with private showers and two multi-use aromatherapy/facial rooms
An expanded, glass-enclosed workout room offering a free-weight area, complete range of Cybex resistance equipment and cardio machines
A 475-square-foot, aerobic studio with suspended flooring and mountain views
A full-service beauty salon
Locker rooms with steam and dry saunas, showers and full amenities
A pre and post treatment relaxation lounge and private consultation room
A guest retail center offering beverages, athletic snacks, signature Yonka spa products and resort wear
Outdoor facilities, including eight lighted tennis courts, lap pool, Jacuzzi, 2.5-mile par course walking/jogging trail and several hiking and mountain~biking areas.

Unlike restrictive "destination" spas, a resort spa like this can create programs for any need. For instance, a weight-loss program might include consultations with our nutritionist, fitness counselor and suggested menu. Or, a simple workout program can be developed for the guest to take home. The other option is to schedule a mixture of spa treatments and fitness classes to enhance a vacation.
In other words, if a guest is coming to relax by the pool, enjoy the fine dining, play golf and tennis and be pampered at the spa they can. If they want to have a diet and fitness regimen during their visit we can create one.

All services provided by the staff are top quality to go along with the new facilities. They include:
A range of wet treatments, from body wraps and body polishes to mud and seaweed dips
Specialized facials for men and women
Several types of massage therapy, from Swedish and Shiatsu to Aromatherapy and Reflexology
Personal fitness training, one-on-one workouts and nutritional/lifestyle consulting
Fitness classes ranging from body contouring and Reebok step to aqua fitness and Yoga
Complete salon services from hair and make up to nails and waxing; and
A wide range of tennis clinics for children and adults taught by USPTA instructors

Each spa employee is fully trained, certified or licensed in his/her area of expertise and receives ongoing training. A variety of services are provided in a specialized way.
