Anthuruim Lilies can grow up to three feet high. They have a
heart-shaped waxy bract called a spathe from which a cylindrical
spadix extends from the center. The common variety are pink and
hybrids can be red, white, green, and peach. They are commonly used in
floral arrangements.
The
flowers at the Diamond Botanical Gardens, Mineral Baths, and Waterfall
near Soufriere (French for Sulphur). This is a portion of the 2,000
acres of land granted to three Devauz brothers by King Louis XIV of
France in 1713 in recognition of their services to "Crown &
Country." In 1983 on the death of Mr. Andre du Boulay, the former
owner, his daughter, Joan Devaux designed, restored, and planted the
Botanical Gardens.
