YonKa Signature Day Spa

On a recent visit to California’s central coast, I had an
opportunity to visit Yon-KaÒ Signature Day Spa in Carmel.
The Yon-KaÒ Paris skin care line was founded in 1957 by two French scientists who believed in the leading power of "solar-charged natural nectars" to revitalize and energize the skin. Today the Yon-KaÒ Paris Collection features 80 botanically enriched creams, lotions, and concentrates to meet every skin need.
Yon-KaÒ Signature Day Spa is owned by Chantal Tourtin. Born in Southern France, Mrs. Tourtin is a Board Certified Paramedical Aesthetician and has experience working with plastic surgeons, dermatologists and obstetricians.
Yon-KaÒ is located in the upscale
Crossroads Shopping Center south of Carmel on Highway 1. The spa is a pleasant, two story affair with a Vichy room decorated in blue and green tile, a body work room, and an electrolysis room on the first floor. The second floor holds two massage therapy rooms with a cottagy under-the-eaves coziness to them – very inviting. Also upstairs are the manicure/pedicure room with clouds painted on the ceiling, a skylight, fountains and pedicure chair, a facial room, and a 6 station salon situated so that it will not disturb the rest of the spa with noise or odors. Yon-KaÒ offers a number of spa services including facials, body spa treatments (exfoliating body gommage, Vichy shower, herbal body wrap, seaweed contouring treatment, body polish, etc.), hand and foot treatments, massage therapy, makeup and personal image services, cosmetic surgery optimizers, and hair care, and more.On my visit, I tried the Yon-KaÒ Alpha+ facial (60 minutes for $95). Licensed Esthetician Jeanne Cowan made this recommendation after analyzing my skin and discussing my skin care regimen. This treatment accelerates the elimination of the outer skin surface with fruit acid therapy (alpha and beta hydroxy acids) from naturally derived extracts. The facial included cleansing, exfoliation, and a re-hydrating peel-off fruit mask. While the mask was setting, Jeanne gave me a relaxing neck and shoulder massage while David Young’s pan pipes on
Celestial Wind played in the background. The mask peeled off in one piece leaving my skin feeling soft with no irritation. As with most day spas, recommendations were given for products to purchase for a home treatment plan. Nine products were suggested totaling $310. Jeanne provided samples of many of the products for me to try at home. Yon-KaÒ offers a dermal analysis and home care consultation at no charge and helps you decide on the best skin care regimen (which does not require throwing out what you are currently using).
