SCENE 9
Wine Tasting
We're at the Seasons restaurant in the Woodlands
Spa. It's just as I remembered it. Once again, the decor wows me. The chandelier is a huge mobile - fascinating to watch. A
two-story cylindrical metal chimney anchors the ceiling to the floor. Lovely
sculptures of each season line the windows. Sommelier, Jeff
Green, instructs us how to taste wine with four S's - Sight, Smell,
Swirl, and Savor. This evening we taste an organic 1999 Bonterra Fetzer Chardonnay
and a 1998 Melonis Merlot Private Reserve. I think they both are quite
good. A healthy dinner follows. Highlights include sushi, oriental
dumplings, a haystack of colorful julienned vegetables, jasmine rice,
chicken, grilled Ahi Tuna, and a baked apple for dessert. Not quite
chocolate, but still tasty. Jeff's has a candle in it for his birthday.
