Tortuga Turtle Program - Things To Do In and Around Cancun

Julie Register, Your Guide to Spas, participated in The Torguga Turtle Program in 2000

One of the special things at The Royal Resorts is the Tortuga Turtle program. Since the resorts are on the beach that is the natural nesting ground for the turtles, they do what they can to help the turtles survive. When the female comes ashore to lay eggs, trained resort personnel ensure they are undisturbed. They then transfer the eggs to a protected location until they hatch. Once hatched, they release them into the Caribbean. Guests can help.
