Snorkeling at Yal-Ku - Things To Do In and Around Cancun |
|
|
About 25 miles north of Tulum is a community called Club Akumal. If you drive in and follow the road to the left after the dive shop, you will eventually come to the lagoon at Yal-Ku, a great place to snorkel. There are lots of fish - mostly Sergeant Major and Queen Angels, but we also saw a tiny Barracuda and a nurse shark. For a small entry fee, you get access to the lagoon and outdoor showers and bathrooms/changing rooms. Please don't enter the water wearing sunscreen - bad for the water and the fish. Since I was staying at The Royal Sands, one of The Royal Resorts, I could check out masks, snorkels, fins, and towels for free! |
