The Most Pet-Friendly Spas...and Their Pet Policies

By , About.com Guide

Looking for a pet-friendly spa? It's not that common, but there are some spas that cater to pets and their people on spa vacation.  A few pet-friendly spas offer special services like massage, pool-side cabanas and even programming for animal lovers who left their pet at home.

More typically, pet-friendly spas simply allow you to bring your pets. You may have to stay in special rooms, pay an extra fee, and put down a deposit that may or may not be refundable. Here are some of the best pet-friendly spas out there, and their policies.

1. Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort, Los Cabos, Mexico.

This luxury resort spa goes over the top with pet-friendly policies. Poolside pet cabanas are free of charge. A jet-lag massage for your four-legged costs $145, and staff is available to walk pets on the beach. There are special menus for cats and dogs -- or the chef will prepare custom-ordered dishes. The resort charges $50 per pet, per stay.

2. Red Mountain Resort & Spa, Ivins, Utah.

It costs $50 a week, per pet.  For animal lovers, Red Mountain also offers The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary Volunteer Experience for $129. After a breathtaking hike in Zion National Part, volunteers get a tour of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, which is home to nearly 2,000 rescued dogs, cats, horses, pigs, and other animals, followed by lunch.

3. Arizona Biltmore, Phoenix, Arizona.

This historic resort spa designed by one of Frank Lloyd Wright's proteges allows pets up to 50 pounds in all its rooms. The most pet-friendly rooms are cottages with fenced-in yards that give your pet room to roam. A deposit of $100 is required; $50 is refundable upon room inspection. Pet massage can be arranged at the spa.

4. Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, Chandler, Arizona.

This major Arizona resort spa allows pets up to 80 pounds on the first floor, where sliding glass doors open to the outdoors. There's no charge, but you must sign a waiver in case anything gets damaged.
