About Sue Frause:
Sue Frause, guest author for About.com's spas site, is a freelance writer and photographer who specializes in travel with an emphasis on spas, soft adventure and healthy getaways.
Experience:
Sue's work has appeared in the Boston Herald, The (Vancouver) Province, The (Everett) Daily Herald Northwest Palate and other publications. She’s a regular contributor to various internet travel sites and writes two blogs: Whidbey Island Life and Closet Canuck. She is a regular contributor to Around the World travel talk radio show and a weekly correspondent for KSER 90.7 FM radio in Everett, Washington.
Background:
Sue traveled and lived in Europe before moving to Puget Sound’s Whidbey Island in 1975 with her husband Bob. They reside on a three-acre farm where they tend to their chickens, turkeys, garden and very own field of dreams. When not meeting deadlines, Sue enjoys travel, theater, movies, jazz, fine food, heavenly spas and visiting her son Max in New York City.
From Sue Frause:
"My first facial was at a salon at Frederick & Nelson in Seattle. I was a young college co-ed then and my esthetician was from Russia – she wore a starched, white uniform. Although it wasn’t a true spa experience, I was hooked. It was only natural that when I began travel writing I would include spas as part of my “must haves” while on the road.

"There are now more spas than Starbucks in the USA. But I’m picky about where I go, and who is giving the treatment. Hopefully I can direct readers to the best places for a true, spa experience."
