The Setting at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa: This is the kinder, gentler Vegas, about 20 minutes drive from the action at Las Vegas Strip. Located in the wealthy suburb, Summerlin, the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort is a Mediterranean-style resort that is relatively gimmick-free. It does have a 50,000 square-foot casino at its center, three swimming pools, and access to eight championship golf courses nearby.
The Aquae Sulis Spa at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa: This 40,000 square foot spa is built around lots of water-based facilities you don’t see very often, including waterfall showers in the locker room that dump buckets of water on your shoulders. But the showpiece is a beautifully landscaped warm-water outdoor pool, large enough to swim in, with hydrotherapy stations you can recline in. The gym and movement studio have glass walls so you can look out onto the pool and garden, which makes a very nice atmosphere for yoga, Tai Chi, even Argentine Tango classes.
Signature Treatments at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa: : The massage therapist starts The Aquae Sulis Signature massage Aromatherapy massage($170 for 80 minutes) with a footbath, which I think is a nice touch. You pick an essential oil blend to match what you need at that moment – relaxation or an end to muscle aches – and the hour and twenty minutes gives the therapist enough time to work out all the kinks. The spa is also pioneering “Spa Art”, which helps even people who can’t draw re-discover their inner artist and gain insight. This is available as a private session, or in classes that are just $10.
Accommodations at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort& Spa: The Mediterranean-style rooms here are BIG. Even the smallest measures at least 560 square feet, with walk-in closets, a wet-bar, sitting area, and a marble bathroom with a deep-soaking Jacuzzi and a separate rainfall shower that will dump buckets of water on your head.

What’s Special at JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa: The hydrotherapy pool is like the world’s most luxurious Jacuzzi, and I loved the movement studio with the view.
What Could Be Better: The waterfall showers in the locker room sound great, but the water collects in the bottom of the shower. It just didn’t look too appealing.
The Bottom Line This spa is for you if you want Las Vegas Light – gambling and golf, without all the glitz. This spa is not for you if you all the over-the-top fantasy and intensity of the Strip.
