Spa music is one of the easiest ways to bring the spa experience home. Music soothes the soul, and promotes a relaxation response. You breathe more deeply and your mind shuts off busy thoughts. It can also be a signal that it's time to relax.
So how can you bring some of that same peaceful spirit into your own home? You can start with spa music from Real Music, an independent new age music label that supplies many spas with the music they play in their treatment rooms.
My own taste runs to an Eastern sound. My favorite recommend The Spirit of Yoga, by Ben Leinbach, who uses traditional instruments like the bamboo flute, harmonium and dotar along with synthesizers and guitar. Very beautiful!
I also like Namaste, (a Sanskrit word that means, I honor the light in you, and accompanies the bow that many yoga teachers end their class with.) This compilation CD has a meditative quality, with Indian singers, sound meditations using Tibetan singing bowls, and Chinese instruments. Artists include Rasa, Karunesh, and Buedi Siebert. Namaste includes a bonus CD with a 15 minute guided meditation.
Tranquility is a sampler of their artists including harpist Hilary Stagg, pianist Kevin Kern, and the duo "2002", which has an ethereal, multi-instrumental sound that is very popular.
They can be ordered by calling 1-800-398-REAL (7325) or by visiting Real Music's website.
