Awake early to set out on a winding hike through avocado groves up to a breathtaking vista to witness the sunrise. Most of the year it's an intimate women-only atmosphere, but there are co-ed and men's weeks. Many guests say it's not just luxurious, but a life-changing experience.

Guest Rooms and Rates at Golden Door: Forty rooms with private patios are surrounded by meticulously landscaped courtyards of camellia bushes, koi ponds or sand gardens and antique Japanese art. The rate of $7,750 per person per week includes a personalized program of fitness, spa treatments (including daily massage in your room), and organic spa cuisine.
The Spa at Golden Door: You'll meet with your personal esthetician to discuss a specialized beauty regimen, which includes daily massage in your room. The Bathhouse Spa has a sauna, steam room and Japanese hot tub and 8 treatment rooms. Treatments include a warm honey wrap and orange blossom milk soak, a peahc paraffin body mask and Ki-Atsu water therapy, similar to watsu.
Facilities at Golden Door: Pilates and yoga pavilion, four gyms, labyrinth, two swimming pools, Ki-Atsu water therapy pool, 20 miles of hiking trails over 388 acres, lighted tennis court.
